Growing up & thru the years, we had always been told that our great great grandfather (or even great great great grandfather)
had been left on a doorstop in England as an infant. Was taken in by the family whose doorstop he was left upon, and given his surname by this family, chosen from the Bible, ergo the name: Pharaoh
There seems to be many "Pharaoh's" around but no one to confirm or deny this tale as "fact" anywhere along the way.
We would truly love to be able to trace our family back as far as possible, but have so very little to go on. Not knowing if this account is true or just a figment of someone's wild imagination or if they are just pulling our leg. If anyone can help with any "Pharaoh" information, I would greatly appreciate it.
My family hails primarily from Virginia/Indiana/and Nebraska. With the bulk of them settling in Nebraska early before it even became a state.

The Mequet's in the US seem to be decendents from J. Andree Mequet, who with his brother stowed away on a ship from France to the US some time in the early 1800's. They jumped ship around Crossroads Louisiana and the brother drowned. If you want more information or have information to contribute please contact me at my e-mail address
Hi, I am trying to find some details about my great grandfather, Thomas Hegarty (hagerty), from Ireland. he was married to Bridget Taylor, and lived in the later part of the 1800's. I believe he was a cooper by trade, and one of his sons, Christopher, was also a cooper. Christopher was born in Dublin, and then moved to St.Laurence Gate, Louth, and worked in the Cairnes brewery. Any information would be appreciated.
I am looking for my Grandfather's family, here is some of the info. that has been passed on to me. His name was Bernhard? Baumgart? Born April 01, 1923 in Konisberg (Prussia). Parents names were Johannes? and Henriette. Siblings: Ernst(deceased), Horst?, Hanze?(deceased), Elisabeth?. Step-Siblings: Anna, Karl and Fritz. He spoke several different languages, and ended up in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada in 1946, then later settled in Ontario. There might be some connection to Olszewski, as I was told that his Father re-married. I am not sure how accurate this info. is, my Grandfather was very ill when he passed this along. Thank you!
