Can anyone help please...
Hello Carol,
I've found a Willem Johannes Pieterse who lived in Amsterdam (born in 1878), married in 1903 with Elizabeth Grietje Scherpenisse (born 1875). Unlikely that these are the parents of Willem Pieterse, born in 1919 - Elizabeth would have been 44, after 16 years of marriage....
I have also found a Harms familiytree, and indeed Jacoba Harms (1921) is married to Wim Pieterse. But I don't believe that was in Amsterdam.... So how do you know that you have relatives from Amsterdam? Is Pieter W (your father?) born in Amsterdam?
Meanwhile Ive opened a page on Facebook to find my Ducth Family, here is the link..

My dads Father had a brother called Joop. He had a daughter named Hannie. My Grandmother had 2 sisters. one is Geertje, who married Siemon Van Drunnen. They had 3 children. Henk, Dickie and Joopie.Geertje lived in Alkmaar, Netherlands.
Grandma's other sisters name was Det. I don't know her married name. They had two girls, Tina and Ria. Ria died when she was about 12.
My father Pieter and sister Carla were born in Ouder Amstel Amsterdam....
No, I'm not a relative at all. Just wanted to help you.
To track down your ancestors appears to be more difficult then I thought. Even with the usesful information you added, I have not found a link. Pieterse is quite a common name in Amsterdam, going back a long time. I've even found a branch in Ouder-Amstel, but no solid relationship with your grandfather popped up. I'm almost convinced that the key is the name of the father of your grandfather - I've tried Pieter, but to no success. Your grandfather left Amsterdam during the war - perhaps his data were destroyed as a result of the attack on the Amsterdam regidtry office in 1942?
A powerful tool to search in the Nedtherlands is found on: https://www.wiewaswie.nl/personen-zoeken/uitgebreid-zoeken/, and also: http://www.stamboomzoeker.nl/. If you are determined, the Stadsarchief Amsterdam is able to do a search in commission, you can email them at: informatie@stadsarchief.amsterdam.nl
If you need my help to translate any Dutch text into English, feel free to ask me at: erik@liskeshoeve.nl.
I might give it another try, please let me know what you have found.
I followed your match in the Harms familytree for you. Here is some information about your grandmother. Jacoba Harms had 3 brothers: Harm (Appie) Harms (1923-1944) Hindrik (Henk) Harms (1919-?) and Jacob Harms (1915-1915) , and 2 sisters: Derktje (Detje, Det) Harms (1917-1995) and Geertje Harms (1913-2003). Your grand-grandparents from mothers side are Harm Harms (1891-1969) and Derktje Meijer (1887-1980). The Harms familiy has its roots in the north of the Netherlands, Scheemda and before that Westerlee, in the province of Groningen.
But no additional info on Willem Pieterse on that site, however.
Thats definately my Grandmothers family...Thanx heaps for that.. Were there any photos on that family tree??? If so would you be able to copy them and email them to me please..
