This William Gascoigne was married to Margaret Percy. She was a direct descendant of Edward III. One daughter, Elizabeth married Sir George Tailboys. They are President George Washington's 7 times grandparents. Another daughter was named either Ann or Agnes. She married Sir Thomas Fairfax. They had several children. Their first two were twin boys named Nicholas and William. Nicholas was a direct ancestor to William, Duke of Cambridge. His twin died young. The parents reused William for their next son. His direct ancestor is Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge. That makes Will & Kate 14th cousins, once removed and Kate is George Washington's 8th cousin, 8 times removed. It gets a little more complex when you know that Nicholas Fairfax had one daughter, Margaret who was a direct ancestor if Prince William. Nicholas also had a son named William who has also a direct ancestor to Prince William but by an entirely different line. Both lines merge with the grandfather of Diana, Princess of Wales. The is an article written by one Anthony Adolph, a renown British Genealogist, back when Prince George was born. This article was written to show that while Catherine Middleton was not born Royal, she had Royal Blood. You can read it at URL
It's a very long article. You need to scroll down 15 screen before you reach the good stuff. Starting with the following;
THE ROYAL ANCESTRY OF H.R.H. THE DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE AND H.R.H. PRINCE GEORGE OF CAMBRIDGE In the pedigrees below, each generation is listed in order: each person listed is the offspring of the one above, and parent of the one below.
You will find loads of data about what I mentioned above. Unfortunately, Mr. Adolph left out quite a few dates and spouses. I spent some time researching the missing data in Wikipedia and other sources. It didn't take long to fill in the gaps. The article runs to 45 screens. There's a lot of data. It ties up lots of loose ends if you dig deep enough. I hope you find this useful. Thank you for your time.
